Photo Collage Prints: Sizes and How to Design One

What a Collage Print Is

A photo collage print puts several photos on one printed page. Instead of one big photo, you tell a small story: a day, a year, a friendship. SnapXXL collage prints are printed on 220 GSM art paper.

How Many Photos Fit

The bigger the print, the more photos it holds:

8x8 inch: 2 to 6 photos

8x10 inch: 2 to 8 photos

8x12 inch: 2 to 10 photos

10x12 inch: 2 to 12 photos

12x15 inch: 2 to 15 photos

12x18 inch: 2 to 16 photos

16x20, 16x24, 18x24 and 20x24 inch: 2 to 20 photos

Choosing a Size

Fewer photos means each photo prints bigger. An 8x8 inch collage suits a small gift, a desk or a shelf. 8x10 inch fits a standard frame. 12x18 inch and above suit a wall, and have room for many photos while keeping each one large enough to see.

If you want to show a lot of photos, choose a bigger size rather than squeezing many into a small one.

Choose Photos That Work Together

A collage looks best when the photos feel related. Pick photos with a similar mood or colour, or from the same event. Include a mix: a wide shot, some close-ups and a few details.

Avoid putting two photos that look almost the same next to each other. Choose the better one.

Pick a Hero Photo

Choose one photo you love the most, and give it the biggest space if the layout allows. The rest support it. A collage with no clear main photo can feel busy.

Use Sharp Originals

Each photo prints smaller in a collage, so they need fewer pixels than a full-page print, but blurry or dark photos are still obvious. Upload the originals from your camera roll, not copies sent on WhatsApp.

Our resolution guide shows how many pixels each size needs.

Ideas for Collages

A baby's first month. A birthday, with a photo from every year. A wedding, with the events in order. A trip, with a photo from each place. A friendship, with the years in order. A pet through the seasons.
