You Can Print Straight From Your iPhone
You do not need a computer. Open snapxxl.com in Safari on your iPhone, choose a print size, and upload photos from your camera roll. Photos taken on an iPhone, including HEIC photos, work.
Your iPhone takes great photos. Here is how to turn them into good prints.
You do not need a computer. Open snapxxl.com in Safari on your iPhone, choose a print size, and upload photos from your camera roll. Photos taken on an iPhone, including HEIC photos, work.
By default, an iPhone saves photos in a format called HEIC, which takes less space than JPEG. SnapXXL accepts HEIC photos from an iPhone and handles them for you, so you do not need to convert anything.
If you would rather have JPEG photos, go to Settings, then Camera, then Formats, and choose Most Compatible. New photos will then be saved as JPEG.
Most iPhone photos are 4:3. A 6x8 inch print has the same shape, so nothing is cropped. The classic 4x6 inch print is a little longer and thinner, so a strip is trimmed from the top or bottom, which is fine for most photos. Square 5x5 or 6x6 inch prints crop a photo to a square.
You can check what will be cropped in the preview before you order.
Upload the photo from your camera roll itself. A photo that was sent to you on WhatsApp or another chat app has been shrunk, and a print made from it will look soft. If someone sent you a photo, ask them to send the original file.
If your iPhone is set to Optimise iPhone Storage, some full-size photos live in iCloud, and your phone keeps a smaller copy. When you select a photo to upload, the full-size version is downloaded first, so give it a moment on a slow connection.
A Live Photo prints as a still picture, the same as the photo you see first. Portrait mode photos print well. Panoramas are very wide, so they will be cropped to fit a normal print size. To print a whole panorama, choose a wide size, or print it on a photo collage or book spread.
A recent iPhone photo has far more pixels than a 4x6 or 8x10 inch print needs. For the largest sizes, use your sharpest photos and the original file. Our resolution guide has a size-by-size table.
